Most business are trying to do their bit to be more eco-friendly and help the environment. We are supporting the “reduce, reuse, recycle” approach in everything we do. By minimizing our consumption, we cut down on waste and conserve essential resources. By reusing items whenever possible, we reduce our carbon footprint while unlocking the full potential of materials that might otherwise end up in landfills. And by recycling, we transform waste into valuable new resources, fuelling a circular economy that benefits everyone.
Here are some examples of what we have already done:

- In our professional in-house laundry we have Miele professional washers & dryers which are manufactured to operate with a reduced water and energy usage, compared with other manufacturers.
- The designed life of the laundry machines, gives them a longer working life, reducing the need to replace – but when we do, the machines are highly recyclable.
- Wherever we can we wash at 30c, reducing our energy usage and we are on a renewable energy tariffs.
- Our laundry detergents are phosphate free, low alkaline and we use oxygen bleach for stain removal, which breaks down into harmless by-products; oxygen, water and soda ash, making it safer for the environment
- Our housekeeping cleaning solutions are brought as concentrates – from a manufacturer here in the Peak District – which we dilute ourselves into reusable spray bottles, avoiding single use plastic.
- We recycle the packaging our supplies are delivered in. We buy in bulk wherever we can to minimise the road miles.
- Our welcome pack items are all recyclable and we give our owners options to have well recognised eco-friendly brands eg Miniml toiletries
- The bags used to transport our laundry to and from cottages are all re-used – many of them are still in use after many years
- We take any leftover food and other items left by guests to the places that need them – we donate these items to either a local homeless charity or a local foodbank. Lost property is kept for 3 months before it, too, is donated to charity.
- And lastly, given web hosting generates more CO2 than aviation, this website is hosted by a company that uses renewable energy too.
